It's not you, It's me...
Guess what I did last night…no, guess….ok, fine, I’ll tell you…
I broke up with unemployment last night. It was hard to let it go, but it’s been a love hate relationship since the beginning…the four weeks I had to wait to get it was a huge piss off – I don’t think I’ve ever gotten over that. Anyway, we’ve had good times – the overpayment in February…this made me fall for unemployment….however, this overpayment was requested back in May – I fell out of love that instant. Since then it has not been working out for us. So, I finally did it – I broke up with unemployment last night and got a job.
That’s right kids, I’m employed…I have a job…I still believe work is for the birds; but now I will be able to afford regular pedicures again!
Wish me luck as I start a new chapter!
Welcome back! The real world has missed you. Since you’ve been on vacation, oops – I mean unemployment – the rest of us have battled six and a half months or about 130 work days of facing the day when the siren formerly known as an alarm goes off, driving someplace we don’t want to be while our not-yet-paid-for gas guzzler guzzles regluar grade at $1.30 a litre, all to work well with others (that terminology has pissed me off since Kindergarten, by the way) – others being less educated, less qualified, and yes, I’ll say it out loud: less fashionable back-stabbing, bottom-feeders we call colleagues.
And, if they’re not enough, there’s the boss, but we won’t go there!
Yes, while you were home in your jammies, watching The View (I know you do), guzzling Timmy’s double-doubles (oddly enough, also about $1.30 a litre, you wish)and catching up on the latest online Solitaire game (which was invented, no doubt, by someone else with time on their hands)the rest of us were collecting our pay in one hand every two weeks(it almost feels like enough until your realize that’s 10 days of your life you’re never going to get back, not five) and watching it go out the other hand to bills, food and oh, did I mention gas is $1.30 a litre???
Anyway, you’re back; that’s the point! I knew you could do it because you’re really smart, and beautiful (which, let’s face it, doesn’t hurt)and broke! No, broke just wasn’t you’re sty;e. Broke wasn’t working for you at all! So, see you at the pump or Tim’s drive-thru, whichever you get to first!
Been there
