Here we are...

I’m moving tomorrow morning…the day is almost here…I am up to my ears in bubble wrap, aka b-rap, boxes and tape; not to mention the stuff that was once in a closet that is now in said boxes.

Packing procrastination time is over….however, I promised my friend James that I would write something…so here goes…

Moving is stressful. No matter how much work you do in advance, the act of moving house equals stress. You don’t realize how much stuff you actually own until you box, seal, label and stack.

One thing that I have learned…you might suffer from a slight shopping problem when you can build a fort of boxes filled with shoes, handbags and other accessories…but at least it’s a fort of boxes filled with pretty!

That’s it for me…back to boxes.

three little words...

I miss crocs.
High heals are the work of the devil…they lead to blistered, swollen, sore, pedicure ruined feet. Pretty shoes are for the birds…so is working.

so...

I vaguely remember working…I worked for seven years and then I had seven months off. In those seven months I forgot about all the things that I didn’t like when I had a job….like getting up early – getting up early to do nothing is a one thing…however, getting up to go to work is stress…I used to get up, go for a coffee, have breakfast and then think about getting ready for the day; the whole process would take about four hours…now I have to do all of that within an hour – not good…stress prior to going into the office makes for a long day. I’m sure I will get back into the groove of things – but at the moment it’s stressful.

Packing Procrastination...

I’m moving in a week and a half…I’ve known about this move for almost a year…one would think that I would have started to pack – not so much…I’m much more interested in procrastinating…here is a list of activities to avoid packing:

10. Check email.
9. Browse Facebook – looking at other people’s pictures is way more important than packing.
8. Go out for coffee.
7. Nap – avoiding packing takes it all out of you.
6. Write procrastination story on ihadajob.com.
5. Re-watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith…still not good…thought it would be better the second time…clearly it was necessary to make this decision before packing.
4. Call everyone in cell phone phonebook to catch up and bitch about how packing everything is so much work.
3. Check Facebook again…a lot happens on FB in 8 hours.
2. Go out to grab a diet pepsi…I love diet pepsi.
and the number one way to avoid packing….

1. Go shopping…when all else fails, you can always hit the mall!

crease this...

I don’t own a summer house, a cottage or a vacation home…but if I did own any of the above, ironing would not be done there. Why the hell would you iron in a place of relaxation…you’re on vacation for chirst sakes…relax, let your hair down…no one cares if you have tiny wrinkles in your clothing….the way I see it, everyone else looks like crap – why not join them.

I bring this up, because someone I know owns a cottage and they iron their clothing when they are there. When asked why, why would you iron at your cottage…the answer, possibly the best answer ever….

“How else do you get the creases in the sleeves?”

AMAZING x 2.

Even better…the response…“I haven’t ironed in 35 years, I’m not about to iron on vacation.” HAHAHA…I love my mother.
